About us and the area

I am Lesley and live next door with my son Harry and our little Cockapoo, Bailey. My older children, James and Megan, visit often now we live in such a beautiful location so close to the sea!
The Old Swan Inn closed as a public house in the 1970’s. We moved here in January 2021 and set about renovating the house, other buildings and gardens. Swan Cottage was the first to be completed and opened in August 2021 to our first guests. Our dream was to provide a luxury holiday retreat, which welcomed a dog or two, so guests could share this little piece of heaven we now call home. We are now renovating the derelict annexe at the other end of the complex and plan to open White Swan Cottage in April 2024 (well that’s the plan!!).

The village has a dog friendly pub (check out its beer festivals on Facebook!), The Fair Maiden fresh fish shop which supplies local seasonal fish all year round, a village shop for the staples and gift ideas, and Neros charity dog biscuits in Lighthouse Lane.
Walking along the beach or cliffs in the other direction takes you to Cart Gap with its lifeboat station and shop, and the wonderful Smallsticks dog friendly cafe which does the best late breakfasts and delicious crab sandwiches (when in season).
Further afield there is so much to see and do. The Norfolk Broads, the seaside villages of Horsey and Sea Palling to see the seals, the busier seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham are a short drive away, or the beautiful Georgian town of Holt for a stroll around the shops. Wonderful Bacton Woods and Weavers Way are a 10 minute drive from the cottage and we have miles and miles of countryside walks and circular routes on our doorstep.
